Award-winning photographer Janet Loughrey grew up in the scenic Adirondack region of New York State, relocating to Oregon after college. It was there that she was inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and a photography instructor to pursue photography as a career.

Following stints as a darkroom technician and magazine editor, Janet began photographing gardens full-time in 1998. Her images have been reproduced in magazines, books, calendars, catalogs, trade show displays, greeting cards and postcards. Her experience as a gardener and knowledge of plants allows her to capture subjects at peak bloom and optimum lighting conditions.

Clients have included Better Homes and Gardens, Sunset, Rodale, HGTV, Horticulture, Country Living Gardener, Taunton Press and Woman's Day. Janet has been the recipient of four national awards for her photography through the Garden Writers Association. She is the photographer/author of "Gardens Adirondack Style" and "Saratoga in Bloom," published by Down East Books. She is also the sole photographer for "The Ann Lovejoy Handbook of Northwest Gardening" and “The Lavender Lover’s Handbook, published in May 2012. Janet has written about gardening, nature, photography and the environment.

In addition to her work with publishing clients, Janet has a web store where her images are available as fine art prints, cards and other products. When she is not taking photos, Janet enjoys gardening, reading, walking, birdwatching and her resident felines. Her personal garden is the source and inspiration for many of her images.
